In addition to the qualitative and gross return benefits and/or costs of shareholder activism, I hope Alon will address the additional quantitative costs and management fee structure of carrying out an activism-based strategy.

The topic of your upcoming session is particularly interesting given a story I have been following. Valeant Pharmaceuticals is attempting a hostile takeover of Allergan Pharmaceuticals. An active investor, Bill Ackman of Pershing Square Capitol Investment has taken a 9.7% equity share position in Allergan prior to the early Valeant offers that have since become a hostile takeover. Can you comment on the role such an active investor plays in this current attempt by one Pharma to take over another?
