Who is eligible to attend The Duke MBA Pride Weekend?

This event is open to all prospective Daytime MBA and Executive MBA students, especially those in the LGBTQ+ and ally community.

How do I apply for The Duke MBA Pride Weekend?

Prospective Daytime MBA and Executive MBA students interested in attending must complete a brief online event interest form by 11:59 pm ET on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Once you have submitted the interest form and your information is reviewed, you will receive your invitation via email. The Duke MBA Pride Weekend decisions will be sent via email on or before Thursday, September 5, 2024. To ensure receipt of our notifications, update your email settings to always deliver messages from email addresses ending in “@fuqua.duke.edu” and “@duke.edu”.

Will my selection to participate in The Duke MBA Pride Weekend be an indication of how competitive I will be in the admissions process?

The selection process for The Duke MBA Pride Weekend is separate from the selection process for admission to business school. Your Duke MBA Pride Weekend status is not an indication of how you will fare in the admissions process.

If I attended The Duke MBA Pride Weekend in a previous year, can I attend again this year?

Since space is limited each year, we want to give first priority to those students who have not previously attended.

Can I receive a travel stipend for The Duke MBA Pride Weekend?

Travel stipends will not be awarded.  You will be responsible for paying for any required flights or transportation to The Fuqua School of Business in Durham, NC.  Once you arrive on campus all event-sanctioned meals, ground transportation, and room fees and taxes for hotel accommodations reserved through Fuqua will be covered. Charter buses will safely transport you to any off-campus events or activities.

Will I get my own hotel room for The Duke MBA Pride Weekend?

If you request hotel accommodations, Fuqua will pair you with a roommate and cover all room fees and associated taxes; incidentals, such as room service, bar charges, and room damages, will be your responsibility. Attendees with chronic or severe medical conditions can request single-room accommodations. These accommodations are limited by room availability and determined on a case-by-case basis.

Can I have my admissions interview conducted during The Duke MBA Pride Weekend?

Prospective Daytime MBA students that have started an application may be invited to complete their admissions interview as space will be limited. If you are not invited to interview, this will have no bearing on your final application, and you may be invited to interview at a later date.

Prospective Executive MBA students are welcome to request to complete their admissions interview during The Duke MBA Pride Weekend.  We will offer a limited number of interviews over the weekend.  You can request to complete an interview on the event’s interest form and an Executive MBA admissions representative will be in touch.  Please note an admissions interview is required for all Executive MBA applicants.

If I have already submitted my admissions application, is there a benefit of me attending?

Yes. While some of the information presented during The Duke MBA Pride Weekend will pertain to the admissions process, the programming will also cover many areas of the business school experience. You will have an opportunity to attend a mock class visit, network with current students and staff, and gain valuable information about post-MBA careers and financing your degree.

Will I have an opportunity to interact with the entire Duke community during this event?

Yes. Our agenda for the weekend will include activities that will give you exposure to the greater Fuqua community.

What if I am applying for business school next year, can I still attend this year?

Yes. Students who are applying for business school next year are still eligible to apply for The Duke MBA Pride Weekend.

What other resources are available to me at Fuqua?

Ford Library has been building a collection of online and print resources that focus on the intersection of the LGBTQ+ community and business.  Scholarly and popular business press publishing in this area is not widespread; but it continues to grow. The Ford Library is keeping our eyes and ears open to build this collection for the benefit of Fuqua.
