Who is eligible to attend The Duke MBA Workshop?

The Duke MBA Workshop is open to all prospective Daytime MBA and Executive MBA candidates.  During this event we will be highlighting the perspectives and experiences of Black, Latinx, and Native American students at Fuqua School of Business. We welcome everyone who shares an interest in learning more about these communities at Fuqua.

How do I apply for The Duke MBA Workshop?

The deadline to apply has passed.  If still interested in attending The Duke MBA Workshop, please contact Siraj Bah.

Will my selection to participate in The Duke MBA Workshop be an indication of how competitive I will be in the admissions process?

The selection process for The Duke MBA Workshop is separate from the selection process for admission to business school. Your Duke MBA Workshop status is not an indication of how you will fare in the admissions process. Based on the information you submit, we will select those individuals who we believe can benefit most from The Duke MBA Workshop at this time.

Can I receive a travel stipend for The Duke MBA Workshop?

Travel stipends will not be awarded.  You will be responsible for paying for any required flights or transportation to The Fuqua School of Business in Durham, NC.  Once you arrive on campus all event-sanctioned meals, ground transportation, and room fees and taxes for hotel accommodations reserved through Fuqua will be covered. Charter buses will safely transport you to any off-campus events or activities.

Will I get my own hotel room for The Duke MBA Workshop?

If you request hotel accommodations, Fuqua will pair you with a roommate and cover all room fees and associated taxes; incidentals, such as room service, bar charges, and room damages, will be your responsibility. Attendees with chronic or severe medical conditions can request single-room accommodations. These accommodations are limited by room availability and determined on a case-by-case basis.

Can I have my admissions interview conducted during The Duke MBA Workshop?

Admissions interviews will not be conducted during The Duke MBA Workshop. The Admissions Team has carefully curated each session to meet you where you are in the application process. Please use this time to fully immerse yourself in the Team Fuqua experience, engage in programming, reflect on your time at Fuqua, and use your experience during The Duke MBA Workshop in your interview and essays. After you apply and attend the weekend, you will be guaranteed an interview in the round for which you apply. You may return to campus for your interview or have a virtual interview conducted. Both interview formats are weighted equally. The Admissions Committee does not give preference to any particular interview format.

If I have already submitted my admissions application, is there a benefit of me attending?

Yes. While some of the information presented during The Duke MBA Workshop will pertain to the admissions process, the programming will also cover many areas of the business school experience.  You will have an opportunity to participate in a mock class, network with alumni, current Daytime MBA and Executive MBA students and staff and you will gain valuable information about post-MBA careers.

Will I have an opportunity to interact with the entire Duke community and not just the minority community during The Duke MBA Workshop?

Yes. Our entire Fuqua community has a longstanding commitment to diversity. Our agenda for the weekend will include activities that will give you exposure to the greater Fuqua community.

What if I am applying for business school next year, can I still attend this year?

Yes. Students who are applying for business school next year are still eligible to apply for The Duke MBA Workshop.
